NOTE: The African Queen...etc.

Wow. I was surprised to find that this movie isnt available on DVD. What nozzle is in charge of that? I wonder about the logic of keeping a movie like this from general viewing. I realize that it wouldnt sell like Slumdog Millionaire, but it still needs to be available.

Here's my thought. Where would we be if a book, say The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, were to suddenly stop being printed. Let's face it, in today's world I can think of several reasons someone might want this book off the shelves. Certainly it doesnt sell as many copies as John Grisham or Nora Roberts. What keeps it in print is historical significance. It reflects a time and place that are both gone (thankfully so), along with everyone who was alive to experience them. The same could be said for The African Queen. There's plenty of historical significance to the film, not to mention its absolute quality of work. So, that's what I have to say about that.

etc...

It's about EDMW/TS. I havent watched EDMW a second time and havent viewed TS at all. These are on my agenda for this weekend (which begins at 5:30 this afternoon and continues through Monday evening). Another one has been added, as well. It's Devdas. A Bollywood film that's been recommended to me by a couple of people. A friend loaned it to me about three weeks ago and I still havent made time for it (3 hours).

Watch for more later.
